Willo Home Tour - 30th Anniversary

30th Anniversary Willo Home Tour

In 2018, the Willo Historic Neighborhood invites residents and Valley visitors to its 30th Anniversary Willo Home Tour. Join us for an inside look at some of the unique homes that make up the neighborhood. Willo is Phoenix’s largest historic district consisting of over 900 homes and is bordered north to south by Thomas and McDowell, and east to west by 1st Avenue and 7th Avenue. Learn more about the Willo neighborhood’s history.

The Willo Historic Home Tour and Street Fair has something for everyone. In 2018, architecturally significant homes and the historic firehouse will be open to the public for an inside look. The homes range in style from Tudor to Spanish Revival, Bungalow and Ranch and were built from the 1920s through the 1940s.  If laid back relaxation is more your style then you can enjoy the classic car show on Holly at Third Ave. and the beer/wine garden.

The Willo Home Tour is the sole fundraiser for the neighborhood and provides the funding for neighborhood movie nights, holiday luminarias, Block Watch, Willo Yard Sale advertising, Kids Club activities and other neighborhood events. The Tour is put on by volunteers who live in the neighborhood. The committee also hosts several appreciation events for the homeowners to thank for their commitment to the neighborhood.

Phoestivus Returns to Phoenix Public Market for Two Nights in December

Phoestivus will be held on December 14th and 21st from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Phoenix Public Market.

Inspired by the famous Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas markets in Germany) and Seinfeld's Festivus, a parody and secular holiday celebrated in an episode of the show, Phoestivus was born to be the perfect all-inclusive December celebration. The Phoestivus market features locally grown and produced gifts for holiday giving from more than 130 local vendors that showcase a variety of locally grown, produced and prepared foods as well as hand-crafted gift items, jewelry andholiday decorations by local artisans. Last year more than 6,000 participants and shoppers gathered in downtown Phoenix for these two nights of local shopping.

Event organizers promise the 2017 event will be more fun, creative, local and diverse than ever. The Phoenix event boasts traditions like the Phoestivus Pole, Pheats of Strength, and the Airing of Grievances as well as Phoestivus Ale (brewed by Phoenix Ale Brewery), Phoestivus Reindeer (baby goats dolled up for the occasion) and a hipster Santa. Phoestivus began in 2009 and is the brainchild of Ken Clark from Get Your PHX.

Phoestivus is a fundraiser for the Phoenix Public Market, a program of Community Food Connections, a a 501c3 non-profit organization. CFC creates a downtown community gathering place by supporting small farmers and businesses that strengthen sustainable food systems and produce healthy products for the local community.

This is an all ages event. Free parking available close to the Roosevelt/Central Light Rail Station.

Phoenix Public Market is located at 721 N. Central Avenue in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

Tempe Boat Parade Fantasy of Lights

http://www.downtowntempe.com/events/boat-parade

Everyone loves a parade, right? A parade that floats…even better! In Tempe, we invite the community to take part in holiday cheer by gathering on the shores of Tempe Town Lake to watch a procession of festively decorated boats of all shapes and sizes.

Every year on the Saturday following the Tempe Festival of the Arts weekend, Santa Claus arrives in Tempe Beach Park by way of boat along with other festive floats.

The 19th Annual Fantasy of Lights Boat Parade takes place on Saturday, December 9th. The parade is once again sponsored by SRP.

The floating units enter Tempe Town Lake at the Tempe Town Lake Marina and make their way to the north shore. The U-shaped parade route travels west to the buoys east of Tempe Center for the Arts, where they begin to make their way back east on Tempe Town Lake along the north shore. To get to the parade, check out Tempe Beach Park's location, know where to park or explore public transit options.
